Bakery-Soft Sourdough Cinnamon Rolls - Baked in the Nuovva Dutch Oven

Soft, fluffy and irresistibly rich, these homemade sourdough cinnamon rolls are pure comfort in every bite.

Slow-risen with active sourdough starter and baked to perfection in your Nuovva® Dutch Oven, they turn golden on the outside while staying beautifully soft and gooey inside.

Whether it’s a cosy weekend bake, a special breakfast treat or a make-ahead dessert for guests, these rolls fill your kitchen with warmth, aroma and happiness - the Nuovva way.

Ingredients:

Dough:

  • 400g strong white bread flour
  • 200g active starter
  • 50g caster sugar
  • 200ml semi-skimmed milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 50g butter
  • 1 tsp salt

Filling:

  • 150g brown sugar
  • 150g room-temperature butter
  • 2 tsp cinnamon

Topping:

  • 150g icing sugar
  • 1-3 tsp water - to reach your preferred glaze consistency

Directions:

Step 1) In a bowl, combine all dough ingredients except the butter and salt.

Step 2) Mix until the dough comes together, then cover and rest for 30 minutes.

Step 3) Add the butter and salt to the dough and mix again until fully incorporated.

Step 4) Cover and leave to proof for 3-4 hours, or until doubled in size.

Step 5) Dust your surface with flour, turn out the dough and form one large square.

Step 6) Mix the filling ingredients, then spread evenly over the dough.

Step 7) Roll the dough tightly, then cut into 9 even slices.

Step 8) Butter your Nuovva Dutch Oven and place the cinnamon rolls inside, spaced evenly.

Step 9) Cover and place in the fridge overnight for a slow proof.

Step 10) Preheat the oven to 200°C and bake for 20 minutes with the lid on and 20 minutes with the lid off until golden.

Step 11) Mix icing sugar and water to your preferred consistency and drizzle over the rolls while still hot.

TIP: For extra gooey centres, reduce the uncovered bake time by 3–5 minutes.
