It’s the kind of recipe every kitchen needs: easy to make, loved by everyone and perfect for batch cooking and freezing.

Ideal for busy weekdays, relaxed weekend dinners or feeding a hungry family around the table - the Nuovva way.

Ingredients:

  • 2 beef stock cubes
  • 1 onion
  • 500g beef mince
  • 2 tins chopped tomatoes
  • Handful of cherry tomatoes
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 500ml passata
  • 1 tbsp tomato purée
  • 2 sprigs of rosemary
  • 1 tsp mixed herbs
  • Handful of fresh basil
  • Olive oil

Tools You Will Need:

Directions:

Step 1) Heat a splash of olive oil in your Nuovva Dutch Oven over medium heat.

Step 2) Add the onion and garlic and cook for 1–2 minutes until softened and fragrant.

Step 3) Add the beef mince and brown, breaking it up with your utensil as it cooks.

Step 4) Once browned, add the stock cubes, chopped tomatoes, passata, cherry tomatoes and tomato purée.

Step 5) Mix well, then add the rosemary, mixed herbs and fresh basil.

Step 6) Place the lid on and simmer for 30 minutes.

Step 7) Remove the lid and cook for a further 10 minutes to reduce the liquid and deepen the flavour.

TIP: Prefer a saucier Bolognese? Keep the lid on for the full cooking time rather than reducing at the end.

Tip Box - Why Cast Iron Matters
